Saturday, January 2, 2016 - My last bottle of 6, and it was oh so good. Enjoyed with beef tenderloin medallions sprinkled with cracked pepper and sea salt.
The wine showed beautifully, with aromas of tire rubber, black pepper spice, tart plum skin, bacon grease and black cherry fruit.
The palate revealed a full bodied wine with moderate alcohol (13.8%), with black cherry pie flavors mixed with plum skin and a background spice. The acidity keeps this big wine lively and fresh, while the softened yet very present tannins lend structure into the long and black-fruited finish.
Drinking beautifully still, and will likely continue to do so for another 3+ years, but why wait? It is at an apogee and has nowhere to go but down. Delicious.
