Saturday, May 6, 2023 - Opened it blind for wine friends - wine from my birth year. Everyone’s guesses hovered around 1998-2001… it evolved in the glass really nicely, didn’t break down at all. Bottle was opened 45 minutes earlier and left to breathe. Nose of rope red fruit, hint of mushroom, rose petals. On the palate soft tannins, nice acidity and velvety texture. Notes pf plums, candied red cherries, bacon fat, orange zest. Medium length, super elegant. You really can’t beat Giacomo Conterno, this is a feat of stellar winemaking.
