Saturday, January 22, 2011 - Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux 2008 Tasting (The Barker Hangar – Santa Monica, CA): Rich but actually quite elegant for this estate with lovely floral aromas of plums, berries, and herbs. The palate is firmly structured with surprisingly restrained fruit in a backward style. The flavors tend towards red and purple in tone and are somewhat dominated by the extracted tannins. I have to say I was expecting more complexity and fruit density from this wine.
