Sunday, December 13, 2020 - The '71 Rinaldi is a very intriguing and enjoyable wine. On the nose, I found a captivating and dark expression, with rich dark red cherry fruit, orange peel, sweet spices, licorice, mint, and smoked meats. On the palate, the wine was incredibly rich and enveloping for a wine of its age, showing ripe dark red fruit, orange, and sweet spices, along with some smoky, savory tones towards the finish, with was long and showcased a myriad of flavors including brown and balsamic spices, orange, and smoke. The texture is perfectly seamless and silky from beginning to end, with the tannins being fully integrated.
