Thursday, March 15, 2012 - Red Burgundy vs. Cold Climate Pinot tasting (Colicchio & Sons, New York, NY): Tasted blind. Brought by Josh K. Dark purple-red. Quite closed and reticent on the nose. Get glimmers of deep sweet fruit and florality: purple violets, but these glimpses are fleeting. A touch of lavender. Deep and dark on the palate - quite floral. Chewy tannins, but smooth. Really pure end-palate and finish of purple flowers. I guessed 06/08 Burg. Nose - 5+/6, Palate - 4.5+/6, Finish - 5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15.5/20.
