Decanted for 2-3 hours for Christmas supper, with another bottle opened but not decanted and drunk on 27 decemberThese wines lack finesse to my taste. They are full but never really show much fruit .Too masculine for my taste but maybe I am drinking it too young.

Quite deep garnet and not giving too much on the nose. Black fruited and pretty intense grape tannins. Opened up over a 2-3 hours and showed more black cherry fruit and some floral on the nose. I think this is a hold for 4-5 more years.

Opened and double decanted an hour before drinking. It was fairly tannic out of the bottle. After two hours of air really hit its stride. Black and purple fruit, earthy, sous bois, but with a soft structure, hint of greenness on the palate (not unpleasant), silky texture and fine powdery tannins.

Impressive village wine. Average 75 year old vines ! Nice concentrated dark fruits, spice and typical Gevrey firmness, yet gentle oak. Drinking well but can age for probably 10 Y+

Pnp, aroma of dark fruits, hint of stem and spice. Nicely evolve on palate, good concentration of fruits and acidity, oak is invisible and drink really nice. Really good and worth effort to store up.

Nose is floral with wild berries, gentle oak, and flowers. Palate has very good depth for a village wine. Drinking well now but it can also age for many more years. An exceptional village wine despite a so so vintage. My wotn.

Bt breathed 2hrs. Deep ruby, red and blue fruits with hint of stem and earth. Elevated extraction for a village wine, mildly sweet fruits meld well with slightly dry tannin and acidity. Some oak spice into the finish but no distracting, premium cru level wine with TVV vines.

A well made wine in virtually all respects, as the fruit, balance, and depth are way above what one expects of a village wine, which is expected given the producer and price. The wood is obtrusive however, and gets in the way. This has a lot going on, so maybe with time it will outlast the barrel, but I am glad I have not invested heavily here.

At Jade Palace for a "Top 10 Burg producer" theme. Second wine, serve alongside the Rousseau Clos de la Roche. This was an absolutely different animal. I couldn't find 2 more contrasting wines! Dark red, almost opaque (see the difference!). Nose was really intense, lots of ripe blueberries and currants, dark fruits, scorched earth and a hint of new oak. My wife was the only one who nailed it as a Gevrey. Palate had lots of intensity, with an underlying elegance, dark fruit, and hints of oak and wood. The finish was not too complex and long, but then again this is a village, albeit a brilliant village. Whatever critics say about Bernard Dugat, I'm still a firm believer that he is able to ensure the most wonderful balance in his wines. I've tasted from cask, from bottle, vintages all the way from the 1980s to now and I can safely say this is a brilliant winemaker at work. This will need time. Lovely wine.

Dark ruby. Perfect nose of Gevrey earth, macerated cherries, and pine. Sappy, pasty palate (a reason for my burgundy fanaticism) with layers of coco, cola, and cherry juice. Incredible fruit, especially from a usually poor vintage. An absolutely stellar bottle. Grand cru length.

Domaine End of Year Party (Chicago, IL): Very big and fruity, with a nice touch of oak, but all in all a bit out of proportion in comparison to the palate. Quite delicious nonetheless.

The wine looks black colored and opaque. It smells like Black currant (cassis), Prune, Mineral, Forest floor, and Chocolate. The body is Full. The wine has Coarse to heavy texture. The wine finishes Long.
I would say that this wine is very manly, strong and almost unbalanced. Classic dugat-py for my taste.
Not sure about the aging potential, I tend to think it is ready and will not pick beyond.

Wow! In stunning form tonight. Opened 2 hours before drinking. Rich ruby red in the glass, red fruits on the nose, intricate richness and complexity in the mouth - lightly roasted coffee, touch of liquorice, real smoothness, a little glycerol. So looking forward to the remaining bottles.

very disappointing. This is earthy and green with some unbalanced structure. I have learned to enjoy this producer but this was not great. Maybe it was the bottle?
Red Burgundy vs. Cold Climate Pinot tasting (Colicchio & Sons, New York, NY): Tasted blind. Brought by Josh K. Dark purple-red. Quite closed and reticent on the nose. Get glimmers of deep sweet fruit and florality: purple violets, but these glimpses are fleeting. A touch of lavender. Deep and dark on the palate - quite floral. Chewy tannins, but smooth. Really pure end-palate and finish of purple flowers. I guessed 06/08 Burg. Nose - 5+/6, Palate - 4.5+/6, Finish - 5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15.5/20.

Terrific wine at a good price, even in harrods. Liked it so much, I've bought 6 more (from Farr). This is "proper" burgundy - a beautiful ruby red, very fruity with a great length.

Rich and youthful, nice nose, very full palate and clean and medium long finish. Drank very well with a veal dish, less interesting by itself. Has many years left, and needs at least two more I think.

Happy Hour at Weygandt (Weygandt Wines, Cleveland Park, Washington D.C.): Really hard to get a read on this wine. It had been triple decanted and slow ox'd for 6 hours prior to serving. Still very tightly wound with only dark fruit and brambles emerging. Won't be opening anymore of these for another couple of years.

Great fruit. Nose monolithic but good, palate very full and rich with sweet cherry fruit and tannins present but under control. Wood not obtrusive. Long and clean finish. A really strong young Burgundy that drinks like a premier cru to my palate, which I guess is fortunate as it is certainly priced like a premier cru.

taste: rich medium/full body with big tannins and medium/high acidity along with tones of dark red fruits, dark red cherries, and bits of dark berries and spice tones
overall: The nose is really good right now but not too complex and the palate is dominated by the tannins and acidity

Rich nose of black cherry and baking spices. A touch of wood and vanilla. Hints of herbs and earth. Grippy tannins and tart acidity upfront with red currants. Sour tartness and tannic on the finish. Seems too young and closed down.

Bright red and black fruits. Clean, and consistent with an ongoing stylistic change for this producer away from some of the super-dark, super-spiced wines of the late 90s/early 00s. Finishes firm. Very nice.

Decanted for 10 hours and still seemed tight at first. Deep purple color. At first hesitant nose of dusty red fruit and oak, mouth is rather gritty and dominated by dusty tannins and oak. After about half the evening and half the bottle it started to show much more: amarena cherries, oak seems integrated and adds finesse rather than subtracting it. Great potential here.
