94 Points

Thursday, March 17, 2011 - Nose of aromatic fruits and a bit of pepper. On the palate, the thing that struck me was the extraordinarily smooth texture. Fruit a bit on the baked side, kept this from being truly great. Notes of lavender and black pepper on the intense palate too. A very nice syrah, reminded me a bit of some Jaffurs syrahs. Not sure how long I'd count on this aging well though. For those who believe a 100 pt rating from Parker means a wine is perfect, this is a perfect example of how silly that notion is - resist the folly of being a point-chaser and the premiums you will pay for 100 RP, only to get a wine that isn't really better than so many with non-100 point scores. Nonetheless, an excellent wine despite the slightly stewed character showing on the fruits, 93-94 points.
