Wednesday, February 23, 2011 - This wine will always hold special significance as it is the first wine I've tried from my birth year. A gorgeous dark ruby colour, with absolutely no signs of it's age, until the nose opens up. This is a very "big" wine. Rich, juicy blackcurrant and dark fruit aromas, fused with a smoky sweetness. On the palate, what is immediately noticeable is the level of tannin, this could easily last another 10 years if cellared well. Otherwise, the palate was dominated by cassis and BBQ spice, with a lingering, quite crisp finish. Absolutely delicious! ****1/2
