  • This wine will always hold special significance as it is the first wine I've tried from my birth year. A gorgeous dark ruby colour, with absolutely no signs of it's age, until the nose opens up. This is a very "big" wine. Rich, juicy blackcurrant and dark fruit aromas, fused with a smoky sweetness. On the palate, what is immediately noticeable is the level of tannin, this could easily last another 10 years if cellared well. Otherwise, the palate was dominated by cassis and BBQ spice, with a lingering, quite crisp finish. Absolutely delicious! ****1/2

  • This was excellent. Huge nose upon opening, and excellent complex mixture of ripe fruits and tannins after decanting for an hour. awesome!

  • Tasted blind. Classic old-school Cali nose of mint, black fruit, wet soil, vanilla, cola, sandalwood, and cherry. There are also more exotic notes of spice cake and meat pie. Beautiful palate weight that strikes an ideal balance between iron-laced, rocky tannins and silky, round, bottle-aged pleasure. More tertiary character on the palate emphasizing the spice and game. Long, balanced finish without a trace of heat and plenty of soil-focused personality. Yet another incredible, singular release from Kalin.

  • WOW...this is high toned with sour skin acidity! Opens up to beautiful dusty cedar, earth tones, wintergreen tobacco, some orange chocolate, little Tawney maple. But what this wine is really about is a very high toned, sour cherry/plum skin, citrus acidity....kind of like a Barolo?? With the wintergreen tobacco, and the cedar and leather.....it's kind of cool! It almost hurts to drink....but very tasty! I thought maybe the alcohol was high....I looked...nope, 12.8. Interesting wine.....and another shocker from Kalin!
