Friday, February 26, 2016 - From 375ml. Ruby with warmish brick color persistent to the rim. Dark roasted fruit, some dark berry and earthiness on the nose with some dissipating alcohol. Hitting its stride right now with dark berry, some oak-softer tannins, nicely integrated acid and alcohol. Berry profile and other flavors rounded out after and hour or so. Nice lengthy finish. I was left wondering about some of the oak and considering the Bordeaux blend was it necessary for an Italian wine maker to do that, despite the fact that some many riservas get oak? What would this wine have been like if there wasn't any oak? More of an International style, bigger flavor profile wine without a big number for alcohol. Forgive my rambling - I still am a big fan of this wine!
