Wednesday, May 5, 2021 - Sealed with a screw cap. This bottle has not seen the best storage as it spent several years of its life in a NYC apartment, but it seems no worse for the wear. Near opaque purple with a heady nose of blackberry liqueur and some herbal and meaty undertones. As is the Carlisle style, this is unapologetically oversized but not overdone. Full-bodied and big-fruited, but with a nice lift from the underlying acidity and no noticeable oak presence. There is a pleasant smokey finish marked by firm but polished tannins. While my tastes drifted away from this style years ago, these are well made wines.
