Friday, February 12, 2016 - The nose is clean, medium (+) in intensity, with captivating aromas of ripe black and red cherry, sweet spice, dried herbs, nougat and sweet tobacco leaf. The palate is dry, but with still plenty of ripe black and red fruit. The palate is consistent with the nose and ends with a long, slightly bitter, licorice and asian spice finish. The acidity and tannins are medium. The alcohol is medium (+) at 14.5%, but overall the wine is well-balanced. It is full-bodied, yet fairly lithe, without the monolithic weight and extraction of some of the more famous Amarones. It is good by itself and even better with food, without overpowering the food. It is drinking well now and is by no means past its prime.

5/10/2016 7:27:00 PM - Good note. As you state, this can still cellar well and will be a "bijou" to drink with its flavors carrying the meal. Yum!
