Wednesday, September 5, 2018 - Rhone Admissions (Vaucluse): I think this might have been the wine that most exceeded expectations for the night. Which might just have been that my expectations were too low. This is the wine that started us down the Rhone journey. After 5 hours in a decanter a few years ago it was a complete and total revelation. It's still too young to be drinking, but we wanted to share that experience this evening. I still think the thing that stands out with these wines is the structure. It is power and elegance all at the same time. Lots of violets and black fruits. Well-balanced. Continued to open up through dinner. I saved some for the end and was well-rewarded. Awesome wine.
