88 Points

Saturday, April 6, 2013 - A much different experience from our first bottle back in November of 2011 (Which I had incorrectly logged as the 2009 for some reason), although I was surprised by the integration of this wine with a 17.2% alc. back then, the secret was that we opened the bottle amongst 8 adults with (at most) a glass a piece, and one glass is more than enough as last night my wife and I split this bottle and it was akin to splitting a bottle of Port between 2 people, simply 'too much of a good thing' and the heat and sting of this was simply too overwhelming for a table wine, very tasty for sure, but not with a meal - Dark, full bodied with a nose of black licorice, blackfruit, pepper, blueberry, plum, spice and vanilla, surprising structure and integration considering the alc., intense and overpowering on the palate for more than a glass, sweet, smooth with a slight burn on the palate with excellent length (88 Points).
