Friday, January 30, 2009 - This wine is a great value for the price. We decanted it for about an hour and it probably could have used longer because it dramatically improved over the next few hours as we finished it. The nose was not the strongest aspect of the wine; it seemed pretty much closed the whole way. Luckily, the palate opened nicely. There were red fruits including raspberries and strawberries, and it developed smokey hints later on. There is a lot of material in this wine and we felt we needed more time (i.e. more bottles in the future) to understand it fully.
