2000 Château Rauzan-Gassies

Community Tasting Note

Friday, December 1, 2023 - Bouquet filled with earthy notes, cassis and ripe fruit. The medium palate is ready from the get go, ripe in a classic way, cedar, cassis, graphite and leafiness. Fragrant flavors, which I associate with the Margaux appellation but this time not at fore front, more at back but still there. Fresh acidity and resolved tannins. Long finish with salty licorice. More complex and a notch up from the recently tasted excellent Priure Lichine of the same year. This is simply great and at the peak of its powers. One of the highlights of this year, especially considering the QPR.
