Friday, February 18, 2011 - Dark red colour, brick on the rim. Well hung meat on the nose, actually still hints of the typical smell of a medicinal cabinet. Not as spicy on the nose as expected, but it is there. Hints of wet forest/barnyard. The palate is much more complex than the nose, there dark berries are much more present, crushed pepper, hints of oak and other spices - does not mirror the nose at all. Full bodied. Very soft tannins, acid OK, fruit is fine - perhaps a touch too much on the sweet side. Nice concentration and a nice long finish. A positive surprise given the age of the bottle, especially compared to how the regular Crozes drink at the same age.

Will still handle a few more years in the cellar, however I struggle to see the big potential benefits.
