Bottle opened for about 4 hours without a formal decant and then allowed to further air in glasses for about 30 minutes right at the end prior to consumption. In a great drinking window although still needs air, I highly recommend this and at this price point this wine has a great QPR. Very deep purple, surprisingly fresh and acidic and still somewhat youthful, medium to full bodied, balanced and smooth with a beautiful aftertaste and with well integrated softening tannins and balanced fruit - would definitely drink any holdings up in the next 2-3 years, I doubt this will further improve. Initially a surprising amount of funk on the nose which blew over quickly to reveal a spicy and aromatic bouquet with black fruit, black pepper, grilled meat and spices. Primary flavors were complex and included loamy earth and mushrooms as well as clean dark fruit, black pepper and a smokey meaty aftertaste.
