Sunday, November 30, 2014 - Gave this an hour of air before serving. This is deep garnet with a lighter rim. The nose shows a complex mix of brown sugar, cherries & baking spice. Medium bodied, classic Volnay. It walks that tightrope between power & finesse with ease. This picks up tremendous palate weight as it breathes. This shows a great mix of spiced red fruit & earthy notes on the mid palate. Subtly structured, a bit more tannin than I was expecting & soft acidity. Excellent length.
