92 Points

Tuesday, October 13, 2009 - Beautiful wine and a great example of the aging process and the wonders it can produce. If I had to criticize it I'd say it had a short finish and surprisingly less body than I would have expected after tasting it when I bought it. I tasted and bought this at the winery after a flight of similar Washington sourced Syrahs. They were all HUGE and featured massive tannins, overpoweringly so. Tasting this tonight was shocking in that the tannins have mellowed to an extreme (as opposed to many Barolo's where the tannins seem to persist forever while the remainder of the wine deteriorates - that being said, I love Barolo's don't get me wrong, just some....), yet the fruit and depth remain. However, it does seem to have lost some body, perhaps concurrent with the tannins I guess. Anyways, a nicely balanced wine that is drinking beautifully now, good nose. At the $28 I bought this, sways it to 92 rather than 91.
