91 Points

Sunday, August 8, 2010 - Grand Blanc at Aquarelle French Restaurant (Austin, Texas): A surprisingly good wine with one groip of tasters ranking it the best of this 8-bottle flight, and another the least favorite—there was no worst as all the wines here were exceptional. The detractors thought the wine fell a bit flat and was disjointed with some bitter lemon and bacon fat notes—enjoyable but ”narrow.” Most tasters really liked the nose, described variously as gorgeous, coconut, pasture, oaky, and floral. From a lesser vintage, the wine “surprised” most tasters with a huge, silky/creamy mouthfeel and a fruity, lemon, and hazelnut palate, and a bright finish: lots of finesse for a CC.
