Sunday, October 16, 2011 - Nose very vegetal immediately upon pop and pour. Nose of dill, black and green olives, some dark fruit. After several minutes the dark fruit began to open. Deep purple color to the rim. Medium legs, black and green pepper, cassis, blood, red meat, cedar box, bramble, dirt. Strawberry and cherries on the palate with nice spice and acidity. Smooth tannins and bright acidity on the finish. This wine paired magnificently with grilled French cut lamb chops, baked potatoe and grilled vegetable medley.

Day two: Notes above persist. However, today they are more mellow, creamy, vanilla cream, buttery, more fruity with wonderful notes of cherries and strawberries. Fantastic wine! I would bump from 91 to 92 easily and possibly 93.
