Pop and pour, this needed about 15 minutes air time in the glass for the fruit to come out and for it to resolve. After that, there is a wonderful garrigue and herbal nose. Soft red fruit. My wife couldn't identify this wine and thought it might be a bigger pinot noir. I would not have pegged it for a CDP blind either, which is interesting because my note from 2016 says "standard middle of the road CDP", which this clearly is not today. 92-93

Poured through a vinturi aerator into a decanter then decanted for two hours. This created a wafting aroma of freshly made blackberry jam and blueberry pie. This wine was inky purple/black in hue. Lush and big on the palate bursting with dark fruit, spices and wet stones on the finish. This is a fun wine in a great place right now. 92-93 points as it continued to improve as the night went on. My buddy Joe loved this wine.

Pretty much mirrors my last experience with this wine about five years ago, except maybe a bit calmed down. I wouldn't say it's evolved all that much, so I think I actually liked it a little better in its slightly more assertive state last time around. But if you have some of these, I'd let them rest because I think this will eventually age into something more complex.

I opened it about 15-20 minutes before dinner. It should have been opened an hour ahead of time. (My bad not paying attn to the clock) Served with simple duck leg confit, potatoes fried in duck fat, simple steamed veggies and a salad with vinaigrette. Nice pairing. The wine itself had typical CdP funk on it, but less manure barnyard smells than mushroom and wet earth. The more unpleasant smells blew off over time leaving the delicious mushroomy notes. Good fruit, blackberries more than cherries. Deep color, 14.5% ABV. Balanced, softer tannins but nicely rounded. Not sharp and puckery. Definitely in its drinking window. It could easily go another 5 years.

Pop and pour. This was better than the previous 2 bottles. Right out of the bottle, quite lively, herbaceous and mineral driven. With time, it becomes a more standard middle of the road CDP with licorice, anise, earth, etc.... Really well done for $25.

Another winner from the Perrin family. Medium full body with a pinch of spice among the dark fruits. Smooth. A "tweener" which should please both the burgundians and bordeauxes. Classic french. Easy to guzzle the whole bottle before you know it. Had it with a pork chop and caprese.

Did not find a strong barnyard funk, or pine needles in my bottle. There was anise, some earthiness, but balanced, not overwhelming, light hints of fruit in the background. Dark red fruit on the palate, subtle, with some oak and leather, reasonably balanced. Medium finish, not an overly pucker factor, but slightly stronger than one might expect. Not a 90+ bottle, but would go well with a stronger meat type dish. Won't necessarily be the best as a sipper.

My experience was very similar to recent notes. Low fruit (probably due to age and brett), with strong barnyard funk, almost overwhelming pine needle aromas, anise, Worcestershire sauce, soy, and an almost synthetic/burning plastic note on the back end (reduction?). Ever so slightly effervescent (brett). This probably would have been enjoyable a few years ago, presumably before the brett became so expressive. Oh, well. Will open something else for holiday travel packing. (Note taken on day 2. Day 1 was similar.)

PnP. Dark crimson in the glass. Nose of menthol, anise, barnyard, bright red fruit and dark red fruit. On the palate, medium bodied, bright fruit, heat. Short finish of bitter fruit with slight tannins.

45 minute decant and consumed over 2 days. There is a lot of pine needles, forest floor, funk, pepper and is that anise? The fruit is red and does its best to hold up to the rest of it, but eventually fails. Day 2, definite anise taste, bell pepper, less fruit, downright funky and less than enjoyable. Two bottles left, these will be weeknight drinkers where I hope for the best.

Decanted 1+ hours. Has really improved in the 2 years since our last bottle. The accent of this wine is in the spicey earthy mid-palate. A pleasant brambly blackberry fruit quickly gives way to black pepper, trace of leather and black licorice flavors, followed by a medium tannic puckery finish. Went perfectly with the BBQ sauce and smoked ribs. Drink over the next 5 years.

very much mineral or stone on the nose. Fruit forward-- red, raspberry, cranberry. Tart, smooth. Long finish. Not enough mushroom, tar and tobacco for a CdP.

This wine continues to improve with age. It is definitely showing it's chops from this awesome vintage. Very lush and opulent with lots of dark fruits, casis and garrique. The finish is long and sumptuous. Great QPR.

Followed our 2007 Beaucastel at the tasting , which followed a 97 Beaucastel. It was really interesting tasting the three in succession. This might have been a bit better than its big brother put of the bottle (both were decanted about an hour), with a really nice, fruity nose and an integrated palate. But as it took on air, it was clear that it had less going on than the Beaucastels. Of course, this doesn't hit the wallet as hard. On day two, back at the house, this was clearly the lesser wine. Not bad for the price, but if I had to do it again, I would search out the Coudoulet.

Dark ruby in color. Nose of cherry, plum and fresh herbs. Flavors of plum, dark cherry, black fruits, garrigue and anise. Well balanced, with integrated tannins and an easy drinking amiability. A very nice food wine that does not take itself too seriously.

Deep, garnet appearance, soft ruby rim. Singed nose of black and blue fruit, earth, garrigue, and lavender. The palate is impressively broad and concentrated, flaunting a succulent core of fresh and cooked blackberries, cherries, Asian spices, soft tannins, perfect sweetness, and a touch of red pepper spice on the generous finish. This was juicy, vigorous, robust, and vibrant. Outstanding.
Not yet mature enough, tart, drying finish. After 2 days recorked still slightly bitter, tanninic. With beef the tart and drying is much less and the full body and deep fruit aroma's come to the front. Great potential.

Decanted for 1 hour. Vibrant dark ruby color. Fruity all the way. Intense and complex. I had to share it with others. We all liked it a lot. We opened another bottle with the same effect. Wonderful aroma and suuculent after taste. Great with cheeses and meats. One of the best Red wines tasted so far. I can't see how it can get better than this. Will buy more bottles and save till 2016 just to test.

Medium bodied on the front end. Not too much on the nose. Decent finish. Good and drinkable all by itself. I tried a meatball with it and it was great. Also, by itself, as in no meatballs, you know what I mean? Honestly, all stuff aside, great wine. I can't wait to finish the bottle tomorrow., .

PnP. Quite a nice CdP. Showcases the ripe '07 vintage but not in a flashy way. Medium bodied with finely integrated tannins. Silky mouthfeel. Nose of sweet fruit, herbs, mint, meat. On the palate sweet red fruit/ripe cherry followed by meat, mint, sour fruit and heat. Hides the high alcohol very well. Finely balanced.

A nice Rhone blend with some mild fruit on the front end and a long finish. Not the best wine I've had, but certainly a contender. I drank it without food and it probably would have been better with a stinky cheese. Medium color.
Decanted for over one hour and served with fresh grilled rib eye. Poor food pairing as this medium bodied wine was overpowered by the steak. Very aromatic fruity nose. For a 5 and 1/2 y/o CNP this wine appears to have enter that awkward pubescent stage. Some what fruity on the attack but then pretty boring thereafter. I feel as this wine has gone stupid and will probably have a better showing after another 8 to 10 years of cellaring. Very tart and dry finish. Nothing spectacular at this stage in the game.
Very approachable with lots of bright fruit with less of the herbal earthiness so enjoyable in a CdP. Very fresh, soft tannins, medium finish, a tiny off balanced but enjoyable on its own and did nicely with grilled chicken and vegetable kabobs. It should drink very nicely over the next five years. It's possible the wine is just somewhat closed at this point and just not showing its full potential. Thankfully, I have three more in the cellar and time to find out.

Medium body, medium tannins, savory palate with medium acidity. The nose started opening up after 10 minutes, with garrigue and other fresh herbs. Not much on the palate initially; the tannins started to build up after 15 minutes, and then began retracting after an hour. After 40 minutes I could detect smoke and licorice on the backpalate. Also, subtle cedar (as in cedar plank roasted salmon) and old oak foudres. The acid began overpowering the fruit (both on the nose and on the palate) after an hour. After three hours this was done. 87-88

One of the less impressive CdPs I've tasted. Classic fruit and floral characteristics on the nose, light in body and flavor, a little spice. Nothing particularly exciting or interesting to report. Have had many Cotes du Rhones that are better at half the price.

garnet color; interesting earthy nose with mushroom and berry, a little funky; mild tannins and plenty of acid, a little thin but well balanced and very tasty; medium finish
This was tasty, with a pretty clear dose of mourvedre and all the sauvage character that implies. I suspect it would be better with more time--I see no lack of fruit, and a little simplicity that will evolve into something more interesting with time, I hope. At $25, it's a nice alternative to better Gigondas or Vacqueyras bottlings, and a nice gift bottle with the additional status conferred by the CdP appellation. It's not a world-beating CdP, but no regrets at the purchase.

1st bottle (from Last Bottle) was flawed -- too much sulphur, and it didn't blow off on the 2nd day. I'm hoping other bottles are not similar. Since no other notes here mention sulphur, I'm optimistic.

Nose: Interesting. Smoky and mineral, with notes of kerosene, rust, tar, and gunpowder. Also some sandalwood, BBQ meat, and a roasted red pepper vegetable/spicy component. Slowly, with air, the fruit emerges, giving heady aromas of ripe cherry and raspberry, and red flowers.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full bodied, but quite smooth and silky.
Palate: Extremely intense flavor on the attack, with red berries, red pepper, and woodsmoke followed by cedar, savory herbs, and spice, then all washed away by the mineral flavors from the nose. The finish is dry and smoky, but also nicely fresh, and strangely, suddenly delivers the fruit, leaving behind pure ripe cherry and pomegranate. The tannins are moderate but grippy.
This wine is a wild ride. Savage, in the best sense of the word; primal, rustic, and untamed, yet complex and well put together, and constantly evolving in the glass. I liked it a lot.

Dark opaque ruby purple. Green coffee bean, incense, and oak on the nose. Green, yet relatively silky palate with some indiscernible thinned out dark fruit. Medium finish which repeats the green notes. **I much prefer Guigal's Gigondas from the same vintage as opposed to this which almost feels like leftovers from Beaucastel.

Nose is a 92, taste is an 89. This started off very mute, slowly built until 1 hour there was SOME fruit on the nose, no fruit on the palate. Nose is black olive, red fruit, bramble and a hint of green pepper. Palate is just rustic with black olive. This was constantly changing. Some fruit did appear on the palate around the 2 hour mark, not much. I enjoyed it but it's a bit too old world for this red-blooded American. Days 2 and 3, taste and nose is down to an 87. More bell pepper and alcohol.
For the price, this is good. But I disagree with those claiming that it drinks above its pay grade.

Some seapage at the cork, and it was very sponge-like to the screw. However, the wine did not seem heavily oxidized. So, this may have been just a one bottle issue, once I laid it down. Good Cranberry skin Red color, partial transparence. Has some good crushed Red berry, hot stone, crushed florals, and clay on the nose. The palate profile offers much Cherry and mild dark chocolate, with some meaty action in the middle. Good finish, and went well with different types of food over two nights. Good stuff. Will see if the second bottle offers something different.

Young, but very smooth and balanced after an hour decant. Love the CDP notes in the wine. A bit more complexity would make it a strong competitor with my Clos de Papes, but at a fraction of the price. This wine is excellent for the price and I am looking to purchase more. I expect it to be even better in a year or two.

Nose very vegetal immediately upon pop and pour. Nose of dill, black and green olives, some dark fruit. After several minutes the dark fruit began to open. Deep purple color to the rim. Medium legs, black and green pepper, cassis, blood, red meat, cedar box, bramble, dirt. Strawberry and cherries on the palate with nice spice and acidity. Smooth tannins and bright acidity on the finish. This wine paired magnificently with grilled French cut lamb chops, baked potatoe and grilled vegetable medley.
Day two: Notes above persist. However, today they are more mellow, creamy, vanilla cream, buttery, more fruity with wonderful notes of cherries and strawberries. Fantastic wine! I would bump from 91 to 92 easily and possibly 93.

PnP and consumed over two days. Bright dark cherry color. Very subtle on nose, quite shy, fresh meat, blood that dissappear with time, red fruit, smokey aromas. On palate it's thin, not much body, cooked meat, smoke, fruity, some dryeness but overall quite fresh, medium acidity. Palate shows much better than nose. The finish is remarkably long, with an exhuberant sensation of red fresh fruit. Probably the best aspect of the wine.

Elegant, appealing and very accesible, the 2007 Perrin et Fils Les Sinards drinks beautifully right now. It is a medium- to full-bodied effort with all the classical parts you expect from a Châteauneuf, with very nice acidity and a finish lasting some 45 seconds. This wine will most likely benefit from a couple of more years in bottle, but why wait when the experience is so pleasant right now?

(First bottle was corked/oxidized and there was seepage through the cork. So while I think this wine could age a few more years, I would suspect the cork quality). Very nicely balanced, well structured, good acidity with smooth finish. Some oak, dark stone fruit, forest, and lavendar.

Though not in any way a big wine this one of the more elegant efforts from this appellation in 2007. There is a subtle but not at all shy tone of dried summer flowers. I love this tone, so rarely found in wines from the southern Rhône as they become more and more explosive. The acidity is very pleasant as is the toned down and almost silky tannins. I guess this wine drinks at its best right now but will develop nicely with an additional four to five years in the cellar. (score is 91-93)

I have had this on a few occasions, but for some reason have not yet written a note about it. This wine is awesome. Not cheap, but not expensive, either. Classic CDP with earthiness, fruit, body, nose, finish and all the rest. Other CDPs of this quality go for twice as much or more. Well worth the 38 bucks a bottle. Recommend!!

91-92. Nose has huge licorice, lavender, sweet cherry, lilac notes. RP seems to be bang on with this wine. Pallet is supple, silky, red sweet cherry, with lavender notes and red fruit. Red garnet color, the nose shows brett, tobacco, green peppercorn with a sweet earthy mix of red cherry and raspberry. A medium body wine with lively acidity, balanced, with spicy red fruits finishing with a short to medium spicy aftertaste. Not a heavy or too concentrated wine, but a pleasant and accessible style already. Good balance of the 14.5% alcohol. 88+ points

Dinner with Pierre Perrin of Beaucastel (Dragon Phoenix Restaurant): A nice entry level CdP, lots of early drinking fun. Nose showed dark cherry fruit, earth, meaty notes, some iron scents and very CdP garrigue and lavender notes. Very attractive. Palate had rather classy cool dark fruit, all very clean and clear, with some licorice flavouring, peppery spice pepper and just that touch of rubber nad menthol at the back-end. Very decent weight here, with powdery tannins giving a sense of grip. Not a heavyweight, but an emminently drinkable wine, and one that went very well with food as well.

Wonderful aroma and suuculent after taste. Great with cheeses and meats. One of the best Red wines tasted so far. I can't see how it can get better than this. On the palate sweet red fruit/ripe cherry followed by meat, mint, sour fruit and heat. Hides the high alcohol very well. Finely balanced.

Color: Deep garnet with ruby at the edge.

Though not in any way a big wine this one of the more elegant efforts from this appellation in 2007. There is a subtle but not at all shy tone of dried summer flowers. I love this tone, so rarely found in wines from the southern Rhône as they become more and more explosive. The acidity is very pleasant as is the toned down and almost silky tannins. I guess this wine drinks at its best right now but will develop nicely with an additional four to five years in the cellar. (score is 91-93)
