Friday, September 1, 2023 - 16 years since my former bottle of this. The color is brickening/ brownish approx 1,5cm from the edge, clearly showing age. At first I had some off notes, thinking this needed a little air to blow off. And quite correct; 1/2 hour later fruit started to emerge.
Black pepper, anise, black currant, forest floor, mushroom (in a good way), figues and lead pencil on the nose.
Nice acidity, and very polished tannins. Dark fruits and a depth/complexity in the mouth that nicely balances the acidity. A beautiful wine and, although it would not be better with more cellaring time, I'm a little sad this is my last bottle.
