– tasted non-blind over a couple hours –
– 58% Tinta Barroca, 15% Tinta Roriz, 14% Touriga Nacional, 8% Tinta Cao, 5% Tinta Amarela –
NOSE: sweet smoky oak; an odd Windex note that disappears with time; grilled lamb; black licorice; hint of crushed rocks; moderately alcoholic.
BODY: medium bodied; lots of fine particulate matter; garnet-purple color of great depth.
TASTE: ripe purple fruits and fresh acidity; moderate to heavy amount of oak; 14.5% alc. is a bit prickly on the palate; a tad muddled and not complex; a bit alcoholic; 36 sec. finish; could maybe improve a bit with a year or two in the cellar. Nothing amazing here, but this a solid wine, and a great deal at $8.
