Has thrown a lot of sediment to the bottle. Very dry, medium body with medium to minus acidity. Red fruit with loads of black pepper; not very coarse tannins. Considering the price, shows pretty well

-- popped and poured -- -- tasted non-blind over a few hours --
NOSE: medium+ expressiveness; raisins; a bit high-toned; hints of mineral and flowers; alcohol is a little noticeable; simple.
BODY: medium-light bodied; rustic garnet color of medium-deep depth; sediment present.
TASTE: ripe fruit; aged --- leathery prune; reminds me of some aged Aussie GSM’s I’ve had; some black cherry, but the fruit seems to be falling out; a touch earthy; some tannins still present, but not overly tannic; 14.5% alc. pokes through; adequate acidity; on its downslope --- drink now.

Note much the same as last year - however went very nicely with the Paprika in the Goulash. Played well against it, coming up with Chocolate undertones.

Fairly reserved nose. The dominant flavors are sweet oak and crushed rock, but there's a nice tart red cherry streak on the midpalate. Good for the price, but not all that good in the absolute.

Great balanced wine that really benefits from ample time to breathe. Our first couple of glasses after 2 hours of air-time didn't have nearly the draw that those after another hour. Oaky nose, ripe plum, and a slight tobacco finish. I'm intrigued what this one will be like in a couple of years. Definitely buy a couple of bottles to put away.

Still needed an hour of airing to get the full affect but this wine is an amazing QPR at under $10. It delivers musky swirling darkness that yields to riper fruit. A bit high in alcohol.

Lovely burgundy, medium body to the eye. Dark fruit (rasberry/cherry), maybe a touch of sweet tobacco and light anise to the nose. Dry full-bodied wine, smooth tannins, moving to dark cherry in the middle. Medium length. For 8.99 a lot of depth of flavor.

Very nice qpr at under $10 but a little on the heavy side...a dry red wine built like a port. Cherry and dark berry flavors with a fair bit of oak and good acid.

We drank this with friends on 9/19/10. It had a decent bouquet of raspberry, cherry, spice, herb and smoke aromas. The palate was smooth, bright and tart with flavors of raspberry, cherry and spice.

Slightly sweet, oaky nose...dark and meaty on the palate but with greeness that took hours to move on...feel meh about it now but am interested to see where the other two bottles I have are in time

color: deep purple; nose: blackberry, oak, cherry -- nice!; taste: initial - medium-body tart berry, finish - fruity but with a little sourness, medium-long tannins; overall: OK -- greener and tarter than I prefer, but it went well with yogurt-marinated grilled chicken. Still I probably won't buy it again.

NOSE: sweet smoky oak; an odd Windex note that disappears with time; grilled lamb; black licorice; hint of crushed rocks; moderately alcoholic.
BODY: medium bodied; lots of fine particulate matter; garnet-purple color of great depth.
TASTE: ripe purple fruits and fresh acidity; moderate to heavy amount of oak; 14.5% alc. is a bit prickly on the palate; a tad muddled and not complex; a bit alcoholic; 36 sec. finish; could maybe improve a bit with a year or two in the cellar. Nothing amazing here, but this a solid wine, and a great deal at $8.

Label: The Vale do Bomfim is produced by the Symington family from grapes grown in vineyards that traditionally supply the House of Dow. It reflects the new style of wines from the Upper Douro Valley where the region's wealth of grape varieties, mature vineyards and modern winemaking have been successfully combined. The powerful, yet elegant structure of this wine offers assertive spice aromas and delicious wild berry flavors.
Review: This 2007 Red Table Wine is a blend of 5 different grape varietals. It's 58% Tinta Barroca, 15% Tinta Roriz, 14% Touriga Nacional, 8% Tinto Cao, 5% Tinta Amarela. It’s a very nice deep purple color. 14.5% alcohol. I decanted this bottle for 4 hours. I get aromas of Plum, Blueberries, Margarine, Crayola Crayons, Red Brick and Tennis Ball with hints of Black Licorice and Leather. Flavors of blackberries, sour cherry and bitter chocolate on the palate. A little dry with medium tannins. Lot's of dark fruit and a little oak on the finish.
