Sunday, November 20, 2011 - The cork was removed early in the morning and the wine was left undisturbed until the evening. It showed well, with aromas of sweet licorice, dark chocolate, black cherries, hints of leather and exotic spices. The palate is fairly balanced, with smooth tannins and good acidity, and the finish is long, with undertones of licorice and berries. But it only shows this well with slow oxygenation. Pop-and-pour or decanting did not deliver the same results. Drink from now until 2016.
