Yes, a bit more assertive than you'd expect a merlot to be, but again, like many Ontario wines around the $15-20 mark, while it does not score extra points for finesse, you have to appreciate their natural quality. That being said, this may benefit from more cellaring and it may still become an elegant wine. It does show a lot of promise, but it's quite charming now also.
