91 Points

Sunday, December 13, 2020 - Bottled 21 April 2020, 15% ABV. From Macharnudo and Carrascal, aged for 4-5 years under flor in American oak in the Tio Pepe solera. I have four tasting notes in 30 years, all about 7-10 years apart - you could say that I drink this wine regularly but not often... This rendition is quite convincing. Pale straw yellow colour; very expressive and complex nose, almond and hazelnut, brine and green olive, lemon zest, flowers and yeast, deep and fresh, woody warmth; the palate is dry and invigorating, fresh but not acidic, linear but not austere, with firm but pleasant bitters; very good resonance and length on the finish, with a lovely salty citrus touch. My best ever Tio Pepe. Excellent value.

12/13/2020 1:39:00 PM - I have known Tio Pepe for 30 years and have drunk it with some regularity over the last 10-12 years. My distinct impression is that while already being fairly good quality and excellent QPR 10 years ago, this has steadily improved since then.
