Saturday, May 8, 2021 - Barolo: Nebbiolo. Aged for one year in concrete vats and five years in medium-big Slavonian oak barrels. 13,5 % alcohol.
Brick red color.
Fascinating and changing aromas of red fruit, strawberries, blood, meat, brett, tobacco, nutmeg and vanilla. Powerful flavors of red fruit, licorice and tobacco.
Dry. Medium body. High acidity. Chewy tannins. Very good balance. Very good structure. Complex. Elegant.
Long finish with red fruit and heat
Starts off very shy and disappointing but after a few hours of air it opens up and turns out to be a remarkable wine. The nose is more fascinating than the mouth. Can probably survive for another 39 years. Frankly I think it needs to mature more to reach its peak. 95/100
