90 Points

Sunday, September 2, 2012 - I poured the wine into a decanter, served the first glass after 30 minutes, poured the remainder back into the bottle and sampled it over another two days. The wine offered a nice nose, with sweet mixed berries, raspberry, tomato, some bell pepper, spices, chocolate, cedar wood and raisiny notes. On the palate the medium- to full-bodied wine showed sweet red berries, raspberry, red cherry, some bell pepper, chocolate, spices, leather and sandal wood, paired with high acidity, a good mouthfeel and extraordinary length. The Paleo became raisiny with air (starting after about one hour in the decanter), which was a pity as the raisiny flavours partly masked the wine’s Cabernet Franc profile. The wine was of very good quality if you accept the raisiny style (hence my good rating), but if it comes to my personal taste the wine was too ripe and raisiny and seemed overpriced to me. (74/90)
