Drar faktiskt litegrann i stilen åt mogen Napa.

  • Last of four bottles--this is orders of magnitude better than the last of these that I had a couple of years ago. Much smoother now without the sharp initial bite. Drinking well right out of the bottle.

  • Dense almost thick, rich and heavy, but then again it came after a 1999 Ch l'Evangile which was the complete opposite. A block buster of Cabernet franc, doesn't make sense.

  • 14,5% alcohol. Tasted alongside most of the Paleo vintages from 2013 to 1993.

Somewhat translucent, really deep and beautifully luminous dark cherry color. Noticeably darker than any of the surrounding vintages. Very intense and surprisingly sweet nose suggestive of very warm vintage; aromas of rum raisin, kirsch, some raisin, a little bit of blackcurrant jam, a hint of sweet oak spice and a touch of dried figs. The wine is quite full-bodied and concentrated on the palate, but definitely not rich and sweet as the nose would suggest - instead the wine feels pretty imposing and tightly-textured with powerful, savory flavors of ripe blackcurrants, intense dark fruits, some peppery spice, a little bit of dark chocolate bitterness, a hint of sour cherries and a touch of ripe and juicy blackberries. Additionally, the wine is very structured, to say the least, with very pronounced, grippy and imposing tannins and moderately high acidity. The finish is warm, grippy and textural with intense, concentrated flavors of freshly picked black cherries, ripe blackcurrants and blackberries, some modest sour cherry bitterness, a little bit of peppery spice, a hint of toasted oak and a touch of bitter, savory wood.

Like so many other Tuscan 2006's, Paleo 2006 doesn't fail to deliver. At over 10 years of age, this wine is still ridiculously tightly-knit, muscular and almost aggressive with its concentrated fruit and massive tannins. Although the nose shows quite a bit of even somewhat raisiny warm vintage character, the wine is very classically styled, ripe and harmonious on the palate - only with remarkable sense of power and concentration. In a tasting of almost 20 Paleos, this is one of the few that stood tall above the rest - although, admittedly, many didn't like the blockbuster style of this vintage. If you have this wine, do not open it. I repeat, do. not. open. it. This is still just a baby and will continue to develop for at least a decade, maybe two. An outstanding vintage that will keep for several decades. A wine in its own class.

  • Tasted blind. Serious nose with aromas of pre-rainstorm, pepper, smoke, and boysenberry. Structured, masculine. Graphite and pine. Long, but also has a sense of urgency. Very minerally up front, with cherry fruit flashing in the mid palate. Reminds me of something from Chinon. Hold.

  • Touch of bricking. Lovely aromas of dark berries, dark chocolate, cassis. Palate is medium bodied, full of spice, pepper, berries. Tannins are there and together with the balanced acid and oak treatment are lending a freshness and completeness to the wine. A long, flavoursome finish.

  • My first experience with this wine and it is Interesting and compelling in the sense it is hard to believe that just over 9 years old this is 100% Cabernet franc, lots of ripe blackberry, plum fig, herbs, dark chocolate on the nose, palate is soft with a peppery tint yet, amazingly fresh with a black fruit core, soft but bitter tannin only show on the finish and well integrated acidity and finish goes for long time

  • Dark- Black with purple rim. Extracted with lots of pepper, chocolate and spice. Some wood notes mingle with slight hints of vanilla.

Full lush palate with dusty big ripe tannin's, some herb and olive tones with black currant.

  • Jäklar vad bra detta vin är. så kompakt och härligt med en början till fina mognadstoner. Ett av Toscanas bästa viner tycker jag.

  • Great but to young. Needs minimum 4 years more in the bottle.

  • A great example of a fine Cabernet Franc.
Such a lovely nose, with dusty herbs, gravel, pencil shavings and some grass and dry Tuscan earth.
Palate is excellent, with a very fine balance, beautiful red fruit, medium+ tannins, and a very fine booth balance and structure, with excellent acidity.
Deep sappy fruit, some herbs, grass, dry berries and red earth.
A wine that showed many different shapes thru the evening, as it developed with air.
Started out rather closed, with harsh tannins, but opened up and came along very good with air, and at the very end it really showed its true colors.
This will benefit from a really long decant, or even better, with further cellar time.
The 2006 vintage in Northern Italy is really good, but still young.
    A beautiful & elegant wine.
Le Macchiole has once again proved to me that they are Tuscany and Bolgheries absolute number one producer.

  • At Garibaldi in Singapore. 100% cabernet franc super tuscan; certainly not a common sight. Good concentration on the palate with masses of dark fruit complemented with a touch of oak. Lush and full bodied mouthfeel with mouth coating tannins but still managed to maintain a certain level of silkiness and finesse. Relatively long, smooth finish which persisted for more than 10secs. Components have come together nicely in balance. Can probably hold for another decade or so but you won't have many regrets drinking it today.

  • 100% Cabernet Franc.

  • Sextet 2nd meeting: Super Tuscan evening (Hanan hosted at Rokah 73 restaurant): Dark red-purple colour
Elegant green bell-pepper and earthy aroma
Full bodied, firm tannins, savoury flavours, warm and alcoholic. Medium length ending. Should be further aged for at least 2-3 years.

  • I poured the wine into a decanter, served the first glass after 30 minutes, poured the remainder back into the bottle and sampled it over another two days. The wine offered a nice nose, with sweet mixed berries, raspberry, tomato, some bell pepper, spices, chocolate, cedar wood and raisiny notes. On the palate the medium- to full-bodied wine showed sweet red berries, raspberry, red cherry, some bell pepper, chocolate, spices, leather and sandal wood, paired with high acidity, a good mouthfeel and extraordinary length. The Paleo became raisiny with air (starting after about one hour in the decanter), which was a pity as the raisiny flavours partly masked the wine’s Cabernet Franc profile. The wine was of very good quality if you accept the raisiny style (hence my good rating), but if it comes to my personal taste the wine was too ripe and raisiny and seemed overpriced to me. (74/90)

  • 100% Cab Franc, a rarity in Tuscany. Whenever I drink this wine, what stands out to me is the luxurious, elegant mouthfeel. Dark cherries with spice coming through on the long finish. A gorgeous expression of Cab Franc.
