Wednesday, August 10, 2011 - Decanted for one hour. Dark garnet color. Beautiful nose of dark cherry, olives, herbs and plum marshmallow. Mouthfeel was light at first but as the wine opens up it gets heavier and more powerful. Full bodied and packed with ripe dark fruit, but structured enough to keep it all together. Dark fruit and licorice on the palate. A simple but delicious wine with huge drinkability. Pretty low on tannins and acidity but still handled a tenderloin steak well. This really represents a style of wine that I generally dislike but somehow I still like this. I didn't detect any heat but noticed that the wine was definitely more enjoyable and precise at lower than room temperature. If this "lacks the concentration and power of riper vintages", I'm probably better off drinking this these weaker vintages...
