Thursday, August 21, 2008 - Nice nose of rare meat, musty floral aromas, and cocoa. Similar flavors flowed to the palate with some sweet dark fruit, strawberries, light pepper, and vanilla/cocoa on the medium finish. Did not taste over-the-hill. The dark fruit had mellowed and the oak was present throughout the wine in flavors of vanillla and cocoa. Some nice real meaty overtones I wasn't expecting but liked. Went well with the soy in the pork marinade.
