Nice nose of rare meat, musty floral aromas, and cocoa. Similar flavors flowed to the palate with some sweet dark fruit, strawberries, light pepper, and vanilla/cocoa on the medium finish. Did not taste over-the-hill. The dark fruit had mellowed and the oak was present throughout the wine in flavors of vanillla and cocoa. Some nice real meaty overtones I wasn't expecting but liked. Went well with the soy in the pork marinade.

Medium brick in colour, with plums, pine and a hint of brown sugar (like some Oz shiraz do)on the nose. More plums, a hint of pepper, red licorice, cherries and smoke on the medium-bodied, smooth palate. A nice blend of New and Old World styles (A-).

Excellent. Deep plum colour - slightly cloudy from poor decanting. Nose is intense and ripe, with cool, blackberry and cherry fruit. Complex with notes of brush, licorice, smoke and peat. Palate is well balanced and ripe, with a juicy vein of acidity. Tannins are very soft - this is drinking very well. Full, ripe sweet finish of blackberry and dark cherry fruit. Lovely.

Intense syrah with a good balance of pepper, blackberry and plum flavors. Smooth lingering finish.
