Sunday, December 18, 2011 - Traipsing through Paris; 12/16/2011-12/20/2011 (Paris, France): A lovely Beaujolais. As good as 2009 Thevenet Morgon served together was, I actually enjoyed this a bit more. It had a beautiful nose. Rather more subtly fruited than the Morgon, it showed a touch of dried earth, slightly dried flowers and a bit of toast undergirding floaty cherry accents. Lovely stuff. The palate was absolutely delicious too, with bits of spice and earth running alongside a core of high-toned, super pure morello cherries, all perfectly balanced and wonderfully integrated with lick of citrus on the finish. Deliciously fresh and blessed with a burgeoning complexity, I loved this wine. While it did not have the midpalate depth of breadth of flavours of the 2009 Morgon, it was a lot readier and more than made up for lack of power with its lovely balance, poise and energy.
