Saturday, March 6, 2021 - Total gamble on this bottle from a private collection but it turned out alright. Nose was non-existent at first, although blossomed a bit with about 30 minutes. Color was down-the-middle garnet, with bricking as to be expected.

A bit of fruit was still there, as were mild tannins, and everything was still reasonably balanced, but nothing terribly expressive came through. Clearly at the end of its life for this bottle but still was a bit more robust on the palate than had expected. A tinge of bitterness at the back of the palate was slightly off-putting but nothing to really throw the wine out of whack.
