Saturday, January 8, 2011 - Splash decanted 1 hour, consumed over 4 hours. Nose: Not very giving, requires a vigorous swirl to reveal eucalyptus, anise, smoke, raspberry, and lavender. Palate: Good balance, medium to full bodied, gripping tannins, gritty mineral with a little red fruit. Gripping tannins dominate medium length finish. Overall, I have to say, I expected just a bit more. However, given a few more years in bottle I can see the potential.
