Sunday, September 5, 2021 - WSET Level 4, Unit D5: Fortified Wines Part II - Sherry (Weinakademie Österreich, Rust, Austria): Wine 7: The wine is deep amber in colour. The nose is of pronounced intensity, aromas are tertiary and include dried fruit, dried fig, raisins, roasted almond, walnut, and honey.

On the palate the wine is lusciously sweet, with medium(-) acidity, medium alcohol, and a full body. The flavour intensity is pronounced, flavours include dried fruit, dried fig, raisins, roasted almond, walnut, honey, coffee, caramel, … The texture is rich and oily, the alcohol is well-integrated, the finish is very long.

This wine is of outstanding quality since it has great intensity of flavours, great concentration, very good complexity, and great length. It is ready to drink and will not improve with further time in bottle and is hence not suitable for further ageing in bottle.
