Wednesday, January 23, 2013 - Beautiful bottle. Cracked this last night, decanted for about 30 min and then drank over about 3 hours, while it evolved.
Deep, dark, ruby wine in appearance. The nose was very intense and perfumed with notes of purple flowers, vanilla spice, and charred earth.
The Palate was equally intense with medium+ body and alcohol, beautifully balanced acidity and medium+ tannins that didn't overpower. It showed flavors of cassis and black cherry with vanilla, toast, and liqourice. It had a long finish with sweet spice and smoke, although, as it evolved in the decanter, it seemed to die a little bit on the back palate. Overall, a very high quality wine.
