90 Points

Monday, August 12, 2013 - Ordered at restaurant The Steakhouse in Lachen. Popped, poured into a decanter and consumed over 2 1/2 hours. The wine was medium purple in colour and offered a rather limited nose of black currant, apple, graphite and some chocolate. On the palate the medium-bodied wine showed black currant, red currant, blackberry, graphite, spices and chocolate, paired with medium to medium-plus acidity, ripe tannin, a good mouthfeel and remarkable length. The oak was still present on the nose and palate, but not overbearing. The wine seemed less ripe and dense than many 2009 and will probably be less long-lived than many 2009 Pauillac, but it drank well and seemed to be a crowd pleaser. I would recommend decanting for two hours. 90+
