2009 Château Batailley

Community Tasting Note

93 Points

Monday, August 9, 2021 - What has changed since last time? Me, or the wine (or is it just variability). My main concern last time was it was a bit monolithic, chunky. Certainly not the case here. Colour: gorgeous deep ruby. Classic nose of blackcurrant and pencil shavings. Palate is rich, yet lithe. The texture is fine, and the finish is long and mineralic. Still a little primary, but beautiful textural complexity here. 93/94.

8/10/2021 8:34:00 AM - Hi, thanks for the note! Just wondering, did you decant and if so for how long?

I found the wine to be very agreeable even on opening compared to my previous bottle, but the minerality of the finish really developed with time in the decanter.
