Monday, January 31, 2011 - Popped and poured. Very pale in the glass, nearing platinum in color. Vibrant nose of stonefruits, minerals, and Ivory soap bar. On the palate: refreshingly lean with minerality to spare. Some of the usual suspects: apricot, tart apple, some mild peach. But, the fresh, slate-like minerality is what is knocking me out with this wine. Not terribly complex, but any more complexity would surely take away from what this wine is. 'Clean' in the best way. Tremendous, linear palate. Great acidity. Excellent focus. Great length. But, above all else, this Riesling is probably the most excellently balanced wine I've had in a long, long time. Nothing is out of place. I couldn't stop drinking it. Truly, a noble wine. What a pleasure. Glad I have another in the cellar.
