AP 13 10, 12.5% abv. Pale yellow. There's some development here - bruised apples in a layer on top of more tropical things - ginger, pineapple, candied lime. The palate is strange - this isn't pulling in the same direction. The sweetness tastes vaguely artificial and it's disconnected from the acidity. A bit hollow in the midpalate. Given this is now 13 years old and had "barely above the legal limit for Trocken" levels of RS, I'm not sure what comes next. It seems to be evolving very slowly, but toward what?

Youthful straw colour. Some maturity in the aromas. Yellow fruits and light petrol. Promising. A little subdued nose. The palate is better. Lovely fat fruit, balanced by gracing acidity. Drinks well noe, but will probably keep for two more years.

Deep golden color. Evolved nose of peach, yellow apples, newly baked bread, wet earth, and that nice tone of petroleum. Full bodied in the first attack on the palate, almost a "fat" feeling. Then a rounded acidity kicks in, in perfect balance with sweet fruit in the vein of yellow apples, peach, pineapple, and a hint of vanilla. The acidity really lifts this wine to great heights in a fresh aftertaste that lasts for a minute or so. This has evolved perfectly, and has many years left to live.

Fine but not as convincingly mature as the 2007 drunk recently. Better on the second day, showing more body and this special Rheingau richness in the slim Kaistersteinfels version.

After some air this shows a magnificent combination of richness, high acidity and a smoky intensity. It is young and a bit edgy but very promising, and from memory much better than the 2007.
Next day: more harmonious and balanced, the acidity is less prominent, and it is just eminently tasty. Unchanged after five days, still perfectly wonderful.

Light yellow color. Fresh, but not very intense aromas of lime and lemon. Has not developed much in a year, seems remarkably light, not very concentrated, but with a pure and pleasant freshness. Probably needs more time in a decanter if fully enjoyed now.

Popped and poured. Pretty much same notes as last time. Platinum in the glass. Nose of light stonefruits and minerals. Apricot, tart apple, some mild peach and heavy minerality. Excellent focus. Great length. This was my last bottle in the cellar. :( Fantastic wine.

Utterly perfect young and undeveloped riesling nose, lovely now and extremely promising for the future. Floral, mineral and white-fruity components, with a few drops of honey. Taste is all about slender elegance and sheer beauty. Nothing heavy, nothing bitter, just incredible freshness with a hint of sweetness on the finish. So happy to have these babies in the nursery.

Clear, bright lemon color. Very pure, very fresh on the palate, with minerals, citrus and green apples and pears. Seems a bit timid at first, but builds up, and appears as quite full bodied, with lots of minerals and fruits, and great acid. Aftertaste is long and pleasant. Still a baby, but delicious to drink now. After one week, the wine had transformed, feeling mature and developed, with tones of tropical fruit. Round and smooth on the palate, and polished acid.

This was full of gala and granny smith apple notes — juicy, honeyed, subdued citrus notes verging on the tropical. Very taut structure, very formed and impressive in all the right spots. Despite the typical Rheingau size, this finished with lots of silky vanilla and coconut milk notes.

(TN courtesy of Frau Vogel) Textbook, perfect Riesling. On the nose, grassy earth notes come forward, as well as freshly cut Granny Smith apple. On the palate, the essence of crisp green apples is echoed again, with a distinctly acidic finish. This is simple at times, in that it comes across as quintessential Riesling: concentrated, fresh, tight at times, balanced, and presenting with slatey, even chalky minerality. However, in a global context alongside a seemingly infinite range of Rieslings from near and far, this is far from just simple. It is Rheingau Riesling at its MOST quintessential: taut, focused, energetic and brilliant. A vinous tribute to the coming of spring, the rebirth of nature, and the rich vibrancy that accompanies the life-cycle of the vine. Buy, drink or hold.

Popped and poured. Very pale in the glass, nearing platinum in color. Vibrant nose of stonefruits, minerals, and Ivory soap bar. On the palate: refreshingly lean with minerality to spare. Some of the usual suspects: apricot, tart apple, some mild peach. But, the fresh, slate-like minerality is what is knocking me out with this wine. Not terribly complex, but any more complexity would surely take away from what this wine is. 'Clean' in the best way. Tremendous, linear palate. Great acidity. Excellent focus. Great length. But, above all else, this Riesling is probably the most excellently balanced wine I've had in a long, long time. Nothing is out of place. I couldn't stop drinking it. Truly, a noble wine. What a pleasure. Glad I have another in the cellar.

Very light yellow - almost water like. Tropical fruit (melon), green apples, citrus and minerals on the nose and palate. No petroleum notes as is often the case with Rieslings. Great freshness and nice balance. The acidity is definitely present, but by no means overpowering. A very long finish highlighting the lovely fruit and minerals. One of the best Rieslings I have tasted.

Very light on the palate with a peach, lemon-lime note.....unfortunately did not revisit later in the night, bc I believe it might have picked up some weight with air which I thought it needed. Very pale straw color. Wonderfully pungent, complex nose: honeydew melon and starfruit, lemon peel, river stone, cucumber, with hints of jalapeno and fresh leather. Palate: kiwi and honeydew melon lead out supported by river stone, cucumber, some jalapeno, white pepper, and a searing core of lemon/lime acidity. Medium body. Lingering cucumber, lime, and river stone on the long dry finish. Epic wine that has amazing intensity, perfect balance, and should age beautifully.
