90 Points

Tuesday, August 14, 2012 - Excellent wine. Rich and powerful. Proudly shows its California pedigree, but without being over-oaked. Stolpman has been inching more towards the French way of wine making - even more so with the most recent vintages. This one is already showing the trend.

The 2008 Angeli has reached its peak, though. Won't get much better anymore. Even the Stolpman people told me the '08 should be drunk, while the '07 will still appreciate a bit more time in the cellar.

Opened this one yesterday for dinner and decanted. Needed a little bit of time, then drank great all evening long. Left about one glass' worth in the decanter that we couldn't finish. Glad it was only a glass - the wine had badly oxidized the next day.
