Acquired this bottle to validate drinking window. Nose of blackberry liquor (limestone smell faded with air). Smooth tannins. Medium length finish with lingering acidity. You can taste the terroir like their Originals bottling.

Excellent big shouldered syrah but only on first day. Had leftover for next day and did not hold up, drinkable but really had faded. So, open and consume all!

Gorgeous Sangio/syrah blend. Consumed over 2 hrs after a 3.5 hr decant. Not a densely colored wine; more like a merlot in color. Exquisite dark berries with hints of Asian spice, eucalyptus, a little acidity and fine tannins on the palate. Really wonderful and not a giant blueberry bomb. I think this is ready.

Very nice wine. Clearly new world syrah, but with old world overtones. It seems sufficiently structured to go a bit longer, but drinking well now. 92-93

One of the reasons why we fell in love with Stolpman wines. This red is absolutely wonderful. Like others, this was decansted for 3 hours but needed some more time.

Excellent wine. Rich and powerful. Proudly shows its California pedigree, but without being over-oaked. Stolpman has been inching more towards the French way of wine making - even more so with the most recent vintages. This one is already showing the trend.
The 2008 Angeli has reached its peak, though. Won't get much better anymore. Even the Stolpman people told me the '08 should be drunk, while the '07 will still appreciate a bit more time in the cellar.
Opened this one yesterday for dinner and decanted. Needed a little bit of time, then drank great all evening long. Left about one glass' worth in the decanter that we couldn't finish. Glad it was only a glass - the wine had badly oxidized the next day.

Stolpman Dinner in the Vineyard: Tasted at dinner in the vineyards event at Stolpman. 100% Sangiovese this year. Ages for 32 months I believe in oak. Big huge Sangiovese that is chocolate and vanilla in the mouth. Very smooth finish. This has a long life ahead of it.

Nose of blueberry, bacon fat and gunpowder. Blueberry all the way through. Lots of heat, balanced, yummy.

Very nice. Dark ruby red. Good fruit, cherry and plum, lots of underlying notes, asphalt, smoke, loam. Medium-full bodied. Great balance.

Exceptional wine. Big, bold, and extremely well balanced. Paired perfectly with filet mignon.
