Monday, May 9, 2022 - Just at the beginning of its mature life, with ~21 years in the bottle - yet another one of those little reminders too many people leave unheeded that putting a bottle away for 5 or 10 years does not constitute "aging" your Burgundy. This has developed powerful earthy scents of maitake mushrooms and freshly turned soil. The palate is intensely stony, I might have guessed it as a Pernand or Savigny wine, but still has much of the sweetness and grip of that fleshy 1999 fruit.
