2009 Château Lynch-Bages

94 Points

Monday, March 9, 2015 - Deep purple.
Nose is rather monolithic as expected and needs time to open up.
Smoky vanilla oak, dark cherries, cassis and cedar.
Tight on the palate with impeccable, perfectly ripe tannins, fluid texture,
and aromas of licorice, dark berry fruit and subtle oak.
Does not yield much as far as aromas are concerned but it has such a great balance and concentration that it makes a wonderful drink even now though at a fraction of the enjoyment it could give when fully mature (say ten to fifteen years from now).
