Thursday, March 27, 2014 - Firm earthy wine with inky-graphite on the initial attack - giving way to briars, cedar notes and firm tannins. There is dark fruit in there but it is a bit elusive because it is masked by the bracing wood and earth tastes. It'd be better if the fruit could assert itself more, but I don't think age will help with this very much. The best facet of this wine is the long finish, which offers up a smokiness moderated by a lovely hint of strawberry -- it lasts for ages. Overall, this is a solid wine at a good value, probably best with red meat dishes.
