Tuesday, May 27, 2014 - Enjoyed this wine for my wife and my wedding anniversary at a new Piedmontese restaurant called Osteria Langhe. I decanted the wine for an hour before going to the restaurant and then had it put back into a decanter once we were settled at our table.
When I first opened the bottle I tasted it and was very happy with how the wine was tasting. By the time we tasted it again at the restaurant it was pretty tight and not hugely expressive. The notes were all very dark and balsamic. It really wasn't until the last glass that it started to really show it's stuff. Beautiful dark berries, bitter dark chocolate, black licorice, and violets floating above.
This is still very primary and will easy go another 5 years or probably more like 10 years before it is coming to it's peak.
